With the pending implosion of New York City just days away, many people – conservatives included – are already pinning scapegoat status on Guardian Angels founder Curtis Sliwa’s red beret. If Zohran Mamdani wins, which is an unfortunately high probability, Sliwa will be blamed for being selfish and syphoning votes from Democrat-conveniently-turned-Independent and disgraced ex-Governor Andrew Cuomo.
Sliwa should “do the right thing and drop out,” they say.
Oh no he shouldn’t!
To blame Sliwa for a Mamdani win is preposterous and asking him to drop out and take one for the team is equally ludicrous. It also shows how shortsighted and unfair politicos can be. If anyone should have dropped out, it’s Cuomo. Consider the following: Cuomo ran in the Democrat primary in June. He was thoroughly beaten by 12 points. His party spoke. They chose a Jew-hating, 9-11 sympathizer who wishes to globalize the intifada and defund the police. For whatever reason, the voters thought he was the best choice for the Democrats. But that wasn’t a clear enough message for the failed former governor, so he decided to play for a new team.
Conversely, Sliwa won his primary fair and square. He is the Republican nominee. The state and local party invested their time and resources supporting Sliwa, as did numerous volunteers acting as his foot soldiers. So, why is it that a man who represents one of the two major political parties in the country, a man who earned his nomination fairly, and a man who knows every nook and cranny in the five boroughs – that he helped to protect for the last several decades – be forced to drop out? Sliwa also showed he had some political chops by totally outshining his two corrupt foes in both mayoral debates.
For those who continue to parrot that Cuomo is the lesser of two evils, and he is the only man with a chance to win, they fail to realize one simple fact: the lesser of two evils is still evil. Cuomo’s infamous legacy will always be his mishandling of the covid scamdemic. His genius idea to send covid patients to convalesce into nursing homes with numerous vulnerable seniors will be among the worst decisions any elected official has ever made during a health crisis. His signature statement, “People are going to die,” showed a cold, cruel demeanor, a man with no heart. Ask any of the children or grandchildren of the elderly patients who died how much lesser of an evil Cuomo is than Mamdani.
If and when Mamdani wins on Nov. 4, even if it is by single digits, the blame should go in three directions, none of them Sliwa. The first source of blame is Cuomo. His primary campaign was as inspiring as a sloth climbing up a tree. He was listless and lacked energy. For a former governor of one of the biggest states in the nation, Cuomo had no focus or success to parlay.
The next source of blame falls upon the national and state Democrat party leaders. Anyone who endorsed Marxist Mamdani should be ashamed of themselves and should pay a political ransom in the future. Instead of entertaining the smiling socialist and letting his campaign fester into an explosive infected boil, someone or some group should have stepped up and immediately demanded a halt to this lunacy. This also includes those who stood silent and said nothing. These are the ultimate cowards. New York Sen. Chuck Schumer is the king (or perhaps queen) of the cowards. Schumer could have been part of a vanguard to oppose this extreme leftward drift and inject some normal ideas back into his beleaguered party. As the highest-ranking Jew in America, he could have been a lead spokesman to stop the anti-Israel sentiment.
Rounding out the trifecta of the blame are the voters. Ultimately, they control the outcome. Just because the polls say it is between Madman Mamdani or Cuomo, they still have the option not to vote for either. Sliwa is a legitimate choice and a true alternative. Who is to say that throngs of voters don’t have the ability to band together and all cast the same ballot. That is called a concerted effort.
It would be sad to see New York fall into a deeper, darker abyss, but this is what happens when citizens are radicalized and indoctrinated with Marxism from a very young age. Furthermore, what message would it send for a conservative Republican to drop out and support a left-wing Democrat just because the left winger is not a Marxist? Reflect back to July 13, 2024 in Butler, Pa. Donald J. Trump took a bullet to the ear. He could have stayed down. He could have dropped out. Instead, he popped up, yelled “Fight! Fight! Fight!”, stayed in, and gave his acceptance speech at the GOP convention a few nights later. That is what Trump has turned this party into: fighters who won’t bow down, even to the heaviest pressure and the direst circumstances.
Former three-term Mayor Ed Koch was ousted in his quest for a fourth term by David Dinkins. Dinkins won the 1989 Democratic primary by nearly nine points and subsequently beat Rudy Giuliani in the general election. It wasn’t long before Dinkins ruined the city. After the primary loss, Koch didn’t wallow in his defeat and mount a third-party independent challenge. He accepted his loss and quipped, “The people have spoken…and they must be punished.” Thirty six years later, history will likely repeat itself.
Unless the people start speaking a different language.
You had me at NO HE SHOULDNT!!
Thank you!!
I know Curtis was taking names of all the traitors who claim to love him ,
Vergognoso!!
Thanks for sharing, ML. The New York City GOP needs to start acting like a major political party instead of a splinter organization!
